I moved to Lewistown this spring, and had never heard of the Chokecherry Festival in my life... until I got here and started catching bits and pieces of chatter about it almost as soon as we arrived. It kept coming up in conversation all summer, long before the festival itself was anywhere close, which told me this wasn't just another town event. It was the event.
Here's the part that got me: this thing pulls in more than 5,000 people, year after year, to a town of about 6,000.
